Please confirm the head coach and any assistants have completed all of the following
(Required)
have attended UBEA meetings/training virtually or in person to review rules, responsibilities and obtain new and updated resources.
have looked at the UBEA calendar of events and know when the UBEA/NDCA events are planned.
none of the program dancers have turned 19 years old before Sept. 1 of the year they intend to dance.
I verify that all of the program dancers are eligible to compete, including the following qualifications:
(Required)
The Ballroom Dance season has been defined as Sept. 1 - March 31st of any school year. Any student that has tried out, been accepted and then withdraws or is terminated by the coach or administration is NOT ELIGIBLE to try out or participate in any other competitive company for the remainder of the season
All dancers must be of amateur status. A dancer may not compete on a competitive team that is made up of professionals; receive compensation or monetary awards for their competition or dancing; or sign a professional contract.
Students who establish eligibility at one high school and transfer to a new school are NOT ELIGIBLE for participation on the competitive Ballroom team (at any level) at the new school until the new team has posted tryouts. The UBEA presidency can approve a “Change of Residence” or “Hardship Waiver” application (these are found on “register my athlete”).
After the competition start date, dancers are not allowed to compete on a Ballroom studio team AND a high school Ballroom team at the same competition.
Students who attend home school, online school, private or charter schools may be eligible to participate on a Ballroom team provided that they have been approved by your school administration. They must live within your school boundaries (or have an out of area contract signed), and have been enrolled in the class (officially on the roster). Any exceptions must beapproved by the UBEA presidency.
I verify the following scholastic qualitifications:
(Required)
I verify my players are academically eligible. In the preceding grading period all students earned a minimum of a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent; and do not have more than 1 non-passing grade (this includes an I grade, no grade, or U).
I will verify scholastic eligibility and forward to UBEA by January 16, 2026.
Member school districts and schools make a determination of a student’s eligibility to participate in gender specific sports team for a particular season based on the gender identification of that student:
(1) in current school records
(2) daily life activities in the school and community at the time that sports eligibility is determined.
The head coach or assistants have verified
(Required)
any transgender dancers with their preferred identity. They will be dancing within their preferred identity as a leader or follower for the entirety of the season for which they are registered.
I verify the head coach and any assistants have reviewed the UBEA Competition Rules and agree to abide by them:
